Today, I came to know about a new website TIOBE - Programming community index, which keeps track of the popular programming languages in the world. It does so, by using search engines results and the number of programmers available for that languages and it updates the popularity index once in a month.

As on June, ‘08 Java is the most popular language. Glad to hear this, as I am too working in this elegant language. Out of the top 10 languages from the TIOBE index, I am now willing to learn two new languages PHP and Ruby. I have to free some of my time, to learn these technologies, as PHP is a must to survive in web and Ruby is getting popular in a rapid fashion. I hope the learning curve will be smaller!
