off course, Unite is not a solution for running a full blown blog on our home computer. We still have to depend on the third party hosting providers for that.

I took a look at the various offers of web hosting and I must say, being able to have my own server is great! Of course, for a modest site. I don't see active blogs being able to stay alive on a home computer. Perhaps I'm wrong.

Is there any way to run this from a headless system? I’d like to use my server to host it, but I’m not sure if I can get it to run correctly without X11.

You can set up a custom domain with Opera Unite.

I don’t think it is possible to have URLs of our choice, like veerasundar.com. All the URLs will include the operaunite, for example veerasundark.operaunite.com/web – is my shared files folder.

Yes. The web server is running only when the Opera Unite browser is open. Since the web server is part of the browser, it is required that to keep the browser open, to share your files.
