in Java

Sometime back, I talked about the Java Store in this blog. Now as part of that movement Sun is releasing the public beta of the Java Warehouse and a private beta of the Java Store to the developers. Java warehouse can be accessed from Sun’s website. If you are having the Sun Developer Network (SDN) account, then you will be able to submit your application to the Java Warehouse.

As quoted from the Warehouse site:

The Java Warehouse is the central repository for Java and JavaFX applications submitted for distribution through multiple storefronts including the Java Store. The Java Warehouse manages developer registration, application submission, content management, provisioning, and settlement, enabling you to focus on creating Java applications and soon making money from the sales of these applications.

Is Java Warehouse a different product than the Java Store?

No. Actually, Java Warehouse and Java Store will work together to form the Sun’s application distribution network. Java Warehouse is the front end for the developers where they can submit their applications for review. Java store is the front end for the user’s where they can browse the existing applications and download them.

As of now, the service is targeted to the desktop applications alone (Java and JavaFX), but the service will be extended to include other kind of applications also (mobile, TV) in future. And, the Java warehouse is now open only to the US developers.

Learn more about it from the Java Warehouse home page.
