One of the most talked feature about Bing is, it’s ability to play video content directly from the search results. You just need to search some videos and when the results are displayed, hover your mouse over the video to start playing it. Microsoft claims that “Smart Motion Preview” helps the searchers to reduce the “destination disappointment”.

But, people quickly exploited this ‘smart motion preview’ feature, by searching for adult contents. People were able to directly play the adult videos from the Bing result pages. This ‘un-told’ feature of Bing suddenly fired some hot debates in the blogosphere, Some people opposed it saying that safe search should be on and some supporting it, for the quality of results they get from Google! :P

Bing team was also listening to all these feedback and now they introduced a way to turn on the Safe search in Bing.

How to turn on the Safe search in Bing?

For the time being, Bing team introduced a work around for the safe search in Bing. Just append the string “adlt=strict” with your search query and bingo! your search results are censored no. Keep in mind that the filter string is case sensitive. A sample URL will look like this:

http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=adulttermhere&adlt=strict

This will be work around for turning on safe search in Bing, till the Bing team introduces a proper way to turn on the filter settings.

my initial test result shows that Bing is as good as Google when displaying relevant search results. Google might be having a tough competitor with Microsofts own search engine.
