This workaround never worked for me!
Every time i start Apache via XAMPP i see this messages:
Status Check OK
Busy…
Apache Started [Port 80]

BUT Apache is not really started.

This is my conf
Listen 8080
ServerName localhost:8080

The only way to make Apache start normally is to disable in the skype options “use port 80 and 443 as alternative…”.

Or be honest your not sure how to. if you just want a server to run wordpress drupal joomla etc and need a local server you could use "easy php" this seems to work for a lot of people who struggle with installations,i wont get in to the techno garble port etc just give it a try. it may work for you. a lot of people are a little scared of changing the port ,i dont know why but they are .
