Last week, a critical vulnerability was detected in newly released Firefox 3.5, which caused the browser to crash. The vulnerability was in the Just In Time (JIT) JavaScript compiler which was introduced in Firefox 3.5. This issues was considered as critical as it could leave the JIT corrupted and allow the malicious code execution, if exploited. A work around for disabling the JIT compiler was suggested for this vulnerability, but again, this work around lead to decreased browser performance.
Yesterday, Mozilla has released the bug fixed browser named Firefox 3.5.1, fixing the above major vulnerability. Along with the bug fix, the latest release has also changes for improving the Firefox load time. You can see a complete list of fixed bugs in Firefox’s bugzilla.
