I’ve been using Google Wave for the past three days. There wasn’t much to wave other than the great Indian wave thread that is currently going on, which is the attempt to connect with all Indian wavers. So, if you’re an Indian and are in Wave, lemme know, I’ll add you that list, if you wish. Anyway, that’s not the point of this post. I wanted to share what I felt with Google Wave in the past three days:
- Wave, surely, is an innovative concept: Yes, it is. Email + Communicator + Wiki will give you the Google Wave. It excites me to see what happened to to my wave, who edited it and when they edited my wave – all these information are tracked by Wave and displayed to the wave users.
- Use it as Gmail or Google Chat: Wave is more fun when you have friends to wave with, as said by Google Wave team. Yes! without your online friends, Wave is nothing but Gmail. You create a wave, add your friend, who is offline and save it, like sending your email in Gmail. But, if your friend is online, then Wave becomes an Google Chat application. Your friend can reply instantly to your wave messages now,
- When you have bigger to list, Wave is just a chaos: Yes! Wave become unmanageable when you are adding too many people to your Wave to list. This is because anyone can edit anywhere in the Wave message and you need to read the entire message again and again in order to read what has changed. Just takes too much of time! And in such scenarios, its difficult to follow the conversations too.
- I wish Wave had a better way to show the unread message in a Wave: Currently Wave is displaying a green color border line in the unread message in your wave. But, at first sight, its difficult to get that this is unread message. Instead of just a line, I would prefer some kind of background color changes (or any noticeable formatting) to the unread messages. This will reduce my searching time for the unread message in a Wave.
And, please note that this post is not to blame Google Wave application. The Wave team surely did a great job in bringing up such a concept and the application. I understand that Wave is still under construction and I think that any feedback on Google Wave will definitely improve the quality and usability of Wave.
You are welcomed to share your views on Wave!

i’ve already sent all my invites. Will check with my friends though.
Thanks a bunch!
Wave team really done a great job!!
The Google Wave was one of the main applications that I was looking forward for many days. And to some extent my curiosity was valid. Since Google wave done a great work.

it definiley does.
Wave is just a framework – to not make it cluttered, you have to arrange your modules and add other modules to fit your style. The “as-is” setup is just a demo.
so, Google wants the outside developers to build Gadgets and apps on top of the Wave platform!
Hm.. as the Wave opens for public usage, we can expect a new range of Wave gadgets to be born.
add me to great indian wave
i m a wave user
@Sutaraj
What's your Wave ID?
Nice post Veera! But today, over 1 million people have got google wave access and still, I hear that most dunno how to properly use it or what is its advantage over other web messengers or chat systems.
Thanks Aditya!
Absolutely correct. I have one Wave account, but after the initial day hypes, I rarely login to it now. Until all my friends are in Wave or Wave becomes a mature product, I can wait to use Wave!
