Why Google Wave Invites are not sent immediately?

October 16, 2009 · 1 comment

Two days back, I got the invitation for Google Wave and I had 8 invitations to give away to my friends. I shared my invitations with the people who commented on my previous post about Wave. But, it looks like most of them (in fact, all), haven’t got the Wave invitation yet.

From the Wave mail, I understand the the names we add is just the nominations. So I guess, it is up to the Google Wave team to decide whether to send the invite or not. The Google Wave invitation page says that the invitations will not be sent immediately and it might take some time to reach the recipients. This is what the Wave invitation page looks like:

Google Wave - Invitations

So, why is it taking such a long for the Wave team to send out the invites? Is it because of too much demand or Wave team is piloting the Wave to a small group of people at a time?

Update 1: Three people, out of 8 I’d nominated, have got the Wave invite.
