Sun Direct DTH service (India) has a beautiful website for show casing it’s n-number of channel packages and subscription options. Good, you need to have something of this sort to attract the web users. But the real pain is it’s web site for recharging. Every month I had to go through lots of frustrations and WTFs before done with recharging my Sun Direct account. That’s why I tweeted that the service sucks for which one my friend questioned why. Well, my friend, here’s why:
- Frustration # 1: The user name to login – it’s the 11 digit card number. No option to have a proper, remember-able, English user names and I hate remembering numbers as my user name.
- Frustration # 2: The site does not have a valid SSL certificate. Firefox always warns me before entering this site, while IE doesn’t even bother to go into it. Though it seems too techie, I’m little concerned about the security here.
- Frustration # 3: The site is damn slow, even in my broadband connection. You click on the ‘Login’ button on Monday and you’ll be logged into the site on Wednesday!
- Frustration # 4: There’s no way to re-charge through online money transfer. You still need to buy the scratch cards and submit the number in the online website.
- Frustration # 5: Again, a techie reason – the site has a poor UI design. The status messages are all displayed at the footer while all the action buttons are placed at the top. So, its the usual tendency to focus on the top, while missing the status messages ate the bottom of the screen.

I seriously hope that the Sun Direct service could improve it’s recharging options and the website. I tried my best to limit the frustration points to 5. Do you have any more to add?
