My frustrations with the Sun Direct DTH website

January 5, 2010 · 8 comments

Sun Direct DTH service (India) has a beautiful website for show casing it’s n-number of channel packages and subscription options. Good, you need to have something of this sort to attract the web users. But the real pain is it’s web site for recharging. Every month I had to go through lots of frustrations and WTFs before done with recharging my Sun Direct account. That’s why I tweeted that the service sucks for which one my friend questioned why. Well, my friend, here’s why:

  • Frustration # 1: The user name to login – it’s the 11 digit card number. No option to have a proper, remember-able, English user names and I hate remembering numbers as my user name.
  • Frustration # 2: The site does not have a valid SSL certificate. Firefox always warns me before entering this site, while IE doesn’t even bother to go into it. Though it seems too techie, I’m little concerned about the security here.
  • Frustration # 3: The site is damn slow, even in my broadband connection. You click on the ‘Login’ button on Monday and you’ll be logged into the site on Wednesday! :)
  • Frustration # 4: There’s no way to re-charge through online money transfer. You still need to buy the scratch cards and submit the number in the online website.
  • Frustration # 5: Again, a techie reason – the site has a poor UI design. The status messages are all displayed at the footer while all the action buttons are placed at the top. So, its the usual tendency to focus on the top, while missing the status messages ate the bottom of the screen.sun direct dth website

I seriously hope that the Sun Direct service could improve it’s recharging options and the website. I tried my best to limit the frustration points to 5. Do you have any more to add?

They are just there to make money. They do not have basic manners, customer sense, and professionalism. The packages are damn waste of money and the cable guy was far far better. For the last one month, the service cannot beam full channels becoz of INSAT issue. Pathetic service.

It is very true what mr vishnu and veera said. We are also a victim of this useless service since last few months. The company has not a good manner to reply to the customer who had approached to them. We the mumbai custemers are unable to see any channels since last one month and even when we are trying to contact the customer care centre in mumbai region it is always not accessible. It is not possible to contact through e_mail also. I believe this is the first company who give this type of treat to the customers.

Generally, most of the Indian companies customer service is pathetic. Sun DTH is not an exception.

Ever since the satellite issue, my SUN DTH is not working. For the past 6 months I am following up with them. Every time they promise to come and rectify it within 48 Hours. They have very few channel options and they have also started charging seperately for each channel. In the end we end up paying more for very few channels and extremely poor service. I have finally opted for local cable connection which is much better.
