Do you still remember the software that you used from your earlier days when you first started using a computer? Even though there are several new versions of software came these days, the first ones never goes out of our mind, at least for me. I used to get nostalgic whenever I see someone blog about old software that were there in the earlier days. Here’s a small compilation of old gems that I used and was a BIG fan of!
Windows 95:
The first thing that I used ever in a computer – Windows 95 operating system. I think it was around 1998 when I went to a local computer center. At that time I was not aware of OS concept and all. All I know was Windows 95 is a *whole* computer. And, FYI, I was a Windows 95 Certified person, too!

FoxPro:
I don’t how many of you used this DBMS package (or even aware of it!). This was the first DB I learnt. I still remember how my instructor struggled to make us learn the DB terminology. But we were amused more by the Fox on the cover than the Pro usage of software under it.
TurboC IDE:
My first playground. Started using it from the school days and it continued till my college second year (later I switched to Java). Still remember those horrible seconds of seeing the Turboc screen scarily after pressing Ctrl + F9 (for compiling). At that time, We used to pray god, asking for no bugs in our programs, but God was never a good programmer, then!

Sonique:
Move away iTunes, Winamp, Windows Media Player – give way to Sonqiue, the popular media player of 90s. There were never a single day went without using this *awesome* player. The innovative user interface of Sonique gave a refreshing experience to us who used to the all rectangular windows.

Road Rash:
How can I write a nostalgic post without mentioning about Road Rash – the evergreen racing game? We used to stand queue before the computer just to get a chance to play this game once. It was such a popular game at that time.

I know I’m missing lots of goodies here. But, I request you to take the theme of this post and share your list of software that you still remember from your earlier days! After posting, please leave a comment here. I’ll be happy to link to your post from here.
