About Me

Who are you and what do you do?

My name is Veera Sundar. I’m a software engineer with 5+ years of experience in web application development using Java/JEE technologies. I also specialize in HTML5 + CSS3 + JavaScript (JQuery, mostly) development.

I’m currently working at PayPal and previously I was with Infosys. Here’s my LinkedIn Profile and Resume.

What hardware are you using?

I’m using Acer 5738Z at home. It has 3GB of memory with 320 GB of hard disk capacity which is more than enough to power Eclipse and Tomcat.

I have a dual monitor setup and additional mouse (intex) / keyboard (iball) to speedup the coding.

What software are you using?

My laptop is running on Windows XP + Ubuntu 10 Fedora (dual boot). I use Eclipse for my Java development and Notepad++ to edit HTML/CSS/JS/PHP/text files. While VisualSVN Git takes care of my code versioning needs, Firefox helps me in web development.

WinSCP + Putty takes care of transferring files to remote Unix machines and Reliance wireless broadband enables them to connect to remote machines.

Oh, yeah! Chrome for web browsing and VLC Media player for entertainment.

Any tools that you’d developed?

  • Time the Task – task management and time tracking tool. (ssssh! I have some big plans for this! :) )
  • Timelinr – Online timeline creation tool, coded in PHP.
  • JustType – a very simple web based text editor.
  • CODERED – Google powered custom search engine which searches only in programming websites.
  • CSS Sorter – a online CSS rules sorting tool, developed on Google App Engine platform – discontinued.
  • Stockr - Firefox extension to track stock prices – discontinued.
